About Katie

A trusted expert, a warm ally

I’m Katie, and I’ve spent over 25 years helping families make sense of their children’s sleep.

I started my career as a nanny, travelling and living with families around the world. Later, I moved into private maternity nursing in London, supporting parents through those first weeks with a newborn, when everything is new and sleep can feel in very short supply.

I saw early on just how much sleep affects family life. It can shape your mood, your relationships and your confidence as a parent. When you’re up several times a night, struggling to settle your baby or dreading bedtime with your toddler, even the smallest things can feel overwhelming. And when the advice you’ve been given doesn’t seem to work for your child, it’s easy to wonder what you’re getting wrong.

Often, you’re not doing anything wrong at all. You just need help understanding what is happening and finding an approach that works for your family.

That’s what led me into child sleep consultancy, and it’s what continues to drive my work today.

Over 25 years of experience in baby and child sleep

Over the years, I’ve supported thousands of families across the UK and internationally, working with children from the newborn stage right through to age 12.

Some parents come to me because their baby wakes frequently through the night or will only nap in their arms. Others are struggling with toddler bedtime battles, early morning waking, nap transitions or a child who suddenly seems unable to settle. I also work with older children whose sleep difficulties are affecting family life long after the baby and toddler years.

No two children are quite the same, and the reasons behind their sleep difficulties can be very different, too.

My role as a baby and child sleep specialist is to look at the whole picture, understand what is contributing to the problem and help you find a way forward. That might mean making changes to your child’s routine, looking more closely at their sleep patterns or working through a challenge that has been going on for months.

I want you to understand why we’re taking a particular approach, not simply follow a set of instructions and hope for the best.

Clinical experience, grounded in sleep science

Alongside my private sleep practise, I work as a sleep specialist within the NHS and CAMHS. Having experience in both settings gives me a broader perspective on children's sleep, including some of the more complex difficulties that families can face.

I hold an OCN London Level 6 qualification in child sleep and am NNEB trained in child development. My approach is informed by peer-reviewed sleep research, alongside more than 25 years of practical experience working with children and their families.

For me, good sleep support isn't about following the latest trend or applying the same method to every child. It's about understanding your child, looking carefully at what is happening and helping you make informed decisions.

If you've spent hours searching online, only to find conflicting advice about what you should be doing, I understand how confusing that can be. I'll explain the options, talk through what the research tells us and help you decide what feels appropriate for your child and your circumstances.

A mum's perspective, too

I'm also a mum to three boys, including twins. I know that family life doesn't always leave much room for the perfectly timed nap or the bedtime routine that goes exactly to plan.

Sometimes you're trying to get one child to sleep while another needs you. Sometimes you're so tired that even deciding what to try next feels like too much. And sometimes a plan that sounds perfectly reasonable on paper simply doesn't work in your house.

I bring that understanding into my work, alongside my professional experience. I won't expect you to follow advice that doesn't fit your family, and I won't judge you for how you've managed to get through the nights so far.

Sleep support that works for your family

I don't believe in one-size-fits-all sleep solutions. Nor do I believe that every family needs the same approach to help their child sleep better.

Your child's age, temperament, development and individual circumstances all matter. So do your own needs, your family setup and what you're comfortable with as a parent.

We can talk through the different approaches available, including research-informed sleep training methods where appropriate, so you can make an informed choice. You won't be expected to use a method that doesn't feel right for you.

Whether you're looking for newborn sleep support, help with a baby who wakes repeatedly, guidance through a toddler sleep regression or support for an older child who struggles to settle, we'll start by understanding what's happening in your family.

My aim is to give you practical, realistic guidance and the confidence to put it into practice, with support along the way.

You don't have to wait until you're completely exhausted to ask for help. And you don't need to have everything figured out before we talk.

If your child's sleep is affecting your family and you're not sure what to try next, I'd love to hear from you. We can talk about what's happening, what you'd like to change and whether working together feels like the right next step.
